Originally from Maryland, local entrepreneur Dr. Susan Doyle, 35, always had a special place in her heart for Charleston. After finishing graduate school in upstate New York, she said warm and sunny Charleston had major appeal for her.
Pairing her DC (Doctor of Chiropractic) degree with her interest in nutrition, Doyle knew the value of what she could offer others.
She opened Absolute Wellness Center in 2012, which focuses on holistic health care. She offers multiple services including chiropractic care, massage therapy, nutrition, dry needling and laser therapy.
Doyle’s passion for wellness and nutrition stems from her own experience. She began her personal wellness journey at a very young age when she was told she would never be able to run or play sports due to her scoliosis.
“Three years of chiropractic care completely reversed the curvature and I went on to become extremely active and play two sports in college,” she said.
Never taking her ability to move for granted, Dr. Doyle wanted to share her passions with others, which is why she opened Absolute Wellness Center.
“I'm blessed to be able to share [my] passions with others and accompany them on the internal and external journeys that happen when they discover true health,” she said.
After 5 years of running the multi-faceted wellness practice in Mount Pleasant, Doyle was ready for more.
“I wanted to extend my reach beyond my four walls and began online health and fitness coaching,” she said.
With nearly 2.8k followers on Instagram, Dr. Doyle is able to inspire others daily. She is constantly working towards her goal of “[building] a tribe of women who empower, strengthen and light up the lives of everyone they touch while sharing the gifts of lasting health and wellness.”
When she first began offering online classes, Doyle said she was thrilled to connect with so many people who would never cross the threshold of her practice.
Her next online wellness group kicks off September 17 and will incorporate fitness, nutrition and accountability.
So, women–– if you are ready to take the next step in your wellness journey, Dr. Doyle wants to remind you that you are worth it.
“Women often take better care of their children or animals than they do themselves, or feel self indulgent when they prioritize self care,” says Doyle. “In fact, the returns [of filling] our own cup are exponential and trickle down to every aspect of our lives.”
